Heart Disease Information
I hope to add specific advice to this page, or give you some useful links for specific
heart conditions, at some time in the future, but I suggest you follow the useful
links...
Useful Links
British Heart Foundation
The major UK heart charity. Contains numerous links and much information about
many types of heart disease.
British Cardiovascular Society
The "Cardiac Club" as it was originally called. This is the professional
heart specialists' association, originally a small elite group, now a wide-ranging
society (recently renamed from 'British Cardiac Society') with many affiliated groups,
all of whom are working to help patients with heart disease. Useful for links and
to some extent for current news. An important society to reflect the professionals'
views to the medical establishment and government.
The Cardiomyopathy Association
Essential information for those afflicted by cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease),
especially the 1 in 500 people in the UK who have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
SADS UK (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome)
Although a rare condition, this group also helps and provides information to anybody
who suffers from arrhythmias (disorders of the normal heart rhythm).
CAA (Civil
Aviation Authority)
The essential source of information for aviation safety. Responsible for most aspects
of aviation control, the site which you will need is the medical subgroup of SRG
(the Safety Regulation Group).
